Ready, set, go! But where’s my conversion kit???/

Ed Beggs of Plant Drive sent us our WVO conversion kit last week.  Kind of. The Greyhound depot in Barriere called to let us know it arrived so I drove into Barriere to pick it up. After signing for it, the gas station attendant couldn’t find it.  I went into the back room and looked and then the two of us looked under counters and behind cupboard doors.

After many apologies, I was told that the graveyard shift employee would have to be asked, as he was the one on at 5:30 am when the bus arrived.  So, sadly I went home.

An hour later I received a call saying the package had been found!  In the cooler!  Here’s why:

 

 

 

 

 

 

Anytime a package says “perishable” it ends up in the cooler!  Nothing in our package was perishable; I think the sticker was chosen for the “rush” aspect.

After looking through all the parts, reading the instructions and going through email from Ed, Chris compiled a list of additional parts to buy. 

Yesterday, we were ready to go!  Despite my excitement, Chris insisted on understanding everything before taking anything apart.  It makes for smooth, successful projects, but it makes me feel like the kids…”are we ready yet???”

The first job was to remove the Japanese radio and cassette deck and install our aftermarket stereo we had taken from the CRV.  Chris promptly discovered that the last time the dashboard plastic had been removed it had been damaged. Not to be outdone, he wrecked it completely.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chris intends to write more about this little project, including what he learned about Japanese radio.

Today, Chris FINALLY removed something under the hood.  Whew!  Tomorrow hopefully we will be well into the conversion. Chris intends to document and post as he did with the Rocket Mass Heater, so anybody with a keen interest in this project, stay tuned!
